“Touching the Sacred” body of works maps a process of awakening through multiple dimensions of connection. Opens with a series of works that reveal an intimate observation of the relationship between my body and what I consider divine energy. I seek to illustrate the divine presence in earthly form, using visual metaphors of mountains and waterfalls, alluding to the theory of immanence, which suggests that the divine is manifested through the material world. The paintings progress into humane relationships. In these works, figures fuse or bleed into each other, creating new forms that are two, but one. They evoke images of connective tissue through intricate tessellations or tattoos that can be read as shared experiences, emotions, and transformations. My interest in nonduality and interdependency is especially apparent in this section, and these paintings speak to the physiological shifts and vulnerable releases inherent to allowing deep intimacy with another being.
